In the past week, I’ve submitted poetry + prose to over fifteen literary magazines, journals, blogs, & anthologies, and I’m so excited to have already been accepted by four!
I share this, not only to capture my own milestone, but to encourage others to continue to share their writing. Never let criticism or a rejection stop you from pursuing what you truly love. I took such a long break from submitting my work to places, because I was scared. I didn’t want to see anymore rejections knocking on my door, but rejections are truly just part of the process in finding where your writing belongs. I’ve changed my attitude towards rejections. I don’t take it as personal (believe me, sometimes I still want to cry when I get those no-go emails), yet it’s somehow easier to know that it’s not necessarily my writing that is bad, but it’s just not the right fit for that press.
I’ve had such a crazy week with so many crazy milestones happening all at once. I cannot wait to share all of the details with you guys soon! I’ll probably make a little chapter in Sad Girl Hours with some updates on my life ✨
