Very good input on a sensitive subject here. Luckily it won't hopefully have too much impact here. And I may come to eat my words here.

@Socasm I think they both have pros and cons. A book deal is nice because the publisher will handle everything, but the writer may not have as much input as they like. And self-publishing requires the author to pay for things themselves, but it does come with the freedom to proceed as one likes. I know @LindsayBuroker is a successful self-published author, and I have tons of respect for her. Plus, I love her work.

@Medea-Ariadne Haha, no. But it would be awesome to have a book deal. Self publishing is filled with so much bad stuff and it's easily a grand for publishing and editing.
