I just realised that I am Omnisexual... QwQ
Omnisexual meaning:
Omnisexuality is a sexual orientation where the individual recognizes and is attracted to people of all sexes, genders, and gender identities, with gender as a factor in their attraction. This includes people who identify as agender.
While both omni and pan mean "all" (omni meaning “all” in Latin and pan meaning ”all” in Greek), omnisexuality and pansexuality are not the same thing. Pansexuals are considered to be attracted to people regardless of gender.
Many people, both members of the LGBTQ+ and those outside the community, believe that identifying as omnisexual and identifying as pansexual are the same thing. Their root words may translate to the same thing, but identifying as pansexual is experiencing attraction to someone without considering the gender of that person. That is why some in the pansexual community choose to be known as 'gender blind'.
Omnisexuals are attracted to someone and acknowledge the person‘s gender identity and/or expression. With some omnisexuals, gender is a major factor in attraction, but to most, it isn’t. The only difference between omnisexuality and pansexuality is that pansexuals are ’gender blind’ while feeling attraction to all genders, and omnisexuals feel attraction to all genders while recognizing the gender identity and/or expression of the person they are attracted to.
The distinction between these two identities may seem confusing and redundant to most people, but to omnisexuals and pansexuals, the distinction matters. Please be considerate of what others choose to label their sexual orientation as, and don’t dictate what others get to identify as.
In short form, the difference between identifying as omnisexual and identifying as pansexual is simply that of recognizing the gender of the individual you are attracted to.
