Change comes about only in the trying times of desperation, strife, and outrage. When the people rise up against the oppression of silence and complicity.
With all that’s going on in this world it’s hard to believe that we’re only in the month June. We’re only halfway through this dreadful year.
Back in 2019, we were all hopeful for the supposed bright year that laid ahead of us until 2020 actually started. First we had the almost WW3 scare, then Covid-19 happened (and is still an issue so please be careful out here), and now we have George Floyd’s murder from the hands of police brutality.
These are truly trying times that we are living in. And years from now when we are well into the 2020s the history books will write about us and hopefully in the end it will conclude our story with a happy ending. In which social economic and political reforms were made to rectify our criminal justice system and general treatment of black people altogether.
The Civil Rights Movement wasn’t the end and it didn’t prevent any future instances of police brutality, racism, and white supremacy and priveledge. The Civil Rights Movement was only the beginning and as we continue to fight the good fight, I hope all of my readers out there you remain hopeful for a brighter future because I guarantee you eventually the time will come.
And it will either be brought about from the blood of another innocent black man or tears from a frustrated white person in power. Either way, change will come.
I’m not anti-white or anti-other races, but I fully support #BLACKLIVESMATTER!
