"Ramayana had been written many times. Does someone stop taking food because it has been taken every day? So is the story of Rama and one can write, read and love it as many number of times as possible."
Atukuri Molla, also known as Kummari Molla or Mollamamba, was a 16th‑century Telugu poet celebrated for her Molla Ramayanam, the 2nd Telugu female poet of note after Tallapaka Timmakka( wife of Annamayya).
She was from a small village Gopavaram in Atmakur mandal of Nellore dt. Her father Atukuri Kesanna, was a potter, reason why she was called so, Kummari is potter in Telugu. A devotee of Srisailam Mallikarjunaswamy, he gave her the name Molla meaning Jasmine.
Her Molla Ramayanam is one of the most famous Telugu adaptations of the epic. She used simple Telugu that could be understood by the masses, unlike the highly Sanskritized Telugu used by earlier poets.
It's believed Tenali Ramakrishna, presented her work in the court of Sri Krishnadeva Raya, who visited her village and felicitated her.
She never married, and dedicated her life to Mallkikarjuna Swamy, whom she credited as her Guru. She spent the rest of her life in Srisailam, where she went into Mahasamadhi.
