I am curious, because a majority of the Democratic voter base view Israel-Palestine as a major issue and are vehemently anti-Netanyahu, will choosing Governor Josh Shapiro (D-Pennsylvania) as her running mate backfire on Kamala. Or will voters trust Kamala enough to be able to keep Shapiro’s Uber-Zionism in check and be able to help the civilians of both Israel and Palestine once in office?
I am not sure myself, and I ask the question, mostly because Shapiro seems to be the front runner to be Kamala’s running mate. This is because there is something in American electoral politics known as “The Home State Effect” which implies, that almost always, the presidential and vice presidential candidates of both parties carry their home states, thus winning those electoral votes.
Pennsylvania will have 19 Electoral College votes in the 2024 election. If Kamala Harris wins Pennsylvania, she will more than likely win the Presidency. So, one can see why a running mate in Josh Shapiro, is a very attractive option to the Harris Campaign.
I also ask the question, because America and the world need Kamala Harris as President and she can’t afford a “J.D Vance” of her own that could sink her campaign.
The deadline for the political parties to submit their nominees to the states, so ballots can be printed, is fast approaching. So we will find out in a few days, more than likely, who Kamala’s pick will be.
