About me: http://mikesefanov.com/aboutme

In the summer of 2010 I couldn’t walk. I was recovering from having severed both of my Achilles tendons, and then re-severing my right tendon. Needless to say, my activities were limited. I did however, go to New York to visit my older brother and my six-year-old (at the time) nephew, Aleksi.

Throughout my Achilles ordeal, my friends suggested I write about my experience. But I never really felt compelled to do so.

Instead, shortly after my visit to New York, I began thinking about Aleksi and his love of puzzles and geography. Aleksi had this multicolored shower curtain with a map of the world and he knew the names of all the countries. I kept thinking about it and decided to write down my thoughts — and eventually my thoughts led me to write a children’s book.
