College has officially started (not really)*, so let me do a quick recap:
*introductory classes today, introductory selected subjects on Thursday from 10 to 12, nothing on Wednesday and Friday
I had four classes today from 10-14 that were all an hour each.
1) The Introduction To Medieval English Literature: The professor seems like a nice woman who's really enthusiastic about her subject. We have 14 weeks to cover 10 centuries, and she had so much to say about Beowulf alone because there's so much to be analysed, but this still seems like it will be a fun subject.
2) Linguistics In English: The professor's not very talkative, but he is approachable. He doesn't even note attendance because he respects our ability to determine our own responsibilities. The subject covers all sorts of different branches of English as a language, and the professor laid out a real comprehensive plan, which sounds interesting.
3) British Studies: Anglophone (US, UK, Canada, Australia) literature and history and culture. This seems like it'll be a fun subject, especially because the professor is an approachable young woman who likes to joke with her students.
4) Use Of Modern English: The professor looks a bit stern, but it seems like she really believes in us and our abilities. The subject sounds exciting as well. Even the homework isn't that bad - writing book reviews, a recipe, hobbies. We'll see how it goes, but as long as I study, I don't think there should be a problem.
My fellow students seem really nice as well.
So, that's my day. I'm very excited for college. I'm also a bit nervous, but not too much because it doesn't seem that intimidating. We'll see how it goes.
