hey chat welcome back to lucis barely coherent rambling about his favourite character
tw: implied suicide and child death (im talking about 7n7, take that as a tw in itself)
007n7 is an extremely complex and well-written character, and I see so many people just rounding him up to “sad dad”. He’s so much more than that.
In college, he was a complete and utter asshole. He ruined Elliot’s workplace—his livelihood—just for the fun of it, he’s also done the same to many other games. He told Noli to take the void star, and even though he didn’t know the consequences, there still were consequences. He still caused him harm, despite not meaning to.
Then c00lkidd comes into the equation. He doesn’t know what to do with a CHILD, that just showed up on his doorstep, and he ends up taking him in. He quits hacking to be a better father, and then we can only assume him and Noli had a bad argument which caused them to pull apart.
He raises this kid for the next ten years, and suddenly, he goes missing. 7 could only assume he’s dead. He holds out, in hopes that, maybe, just MAYBE, he’d come back and he’d have his son back.
But he doesn’t. He has no one. He lost his son, his best friend, his family. He’s alone.
And so, he quits.
Then he arrives in the forsaken realm, forced to survive against his son and his ex-hacking partner like a mouse to a cat. He can’t even be put out of his misery because every fucking time he comes back again and again and again.
He can’t win. The other survivors either dislike him or are wary of him. He dies to his son over and over. He has to look his old friend in the eyes before scattering away like the coward everyone takes him for.
He can’t win. No matter how hard he tries, he can’t win. Life isn’t on his side, it never was.
