Milica Jakovljević (1887-1952), better known by her pen name Mir-Jam, was a Serbian journalist and writer.
She worked as a journalist from 1921 to 1941, when World War II in Yugoslavia began, and she refused to cooperate with the occupying Nazi forces.
While working as a journalist, she published many love stories and novels that portrayed every day life in Yugoslavia and were written in an easy-to read, picturesque, and descriptive style. Her books were very popular and she was nicknamed Serbian Jane Austen.
After World War II ended, she was unable to find further work as a journalist, and her novels faded into relative obscurity. They have enjoyed resurgence of popularity since 2008, when they started being adapted into TV series.
To my knowledge, Mir-Jam's books have never been translated into English, so I have decided to rectify that.
