We put up the first candle to celebrate Hanukkah a few hours after the sun had set. A single red candle, unlit, sits lonely in the bedroom.
I've always celebrated Christmas, as my stepmom and dad celebrate it. I was given a choice when I was younger to choose between Christmas and Hanukkah. And back then, my selfish greed for presents turned me towards Christmas as I'd usually get more expensive toys and stuff compared to the cheaper presents my mom bought.
Now that I'm older and a bit more mature, I've decided to embrace both of my heritages and then some. I'll continue to celebrate Christmas with my Christian family and celebrate Hanukkah with my mom, alongside Yule as I dive into Wiccan practices.
Happy Hanukkah to those who celebrate. I hope those who celebrated Christmas had a wonderful time. <3
