          Happenstance – a Milex short story
          It’s 1993 and seven year old Miles Kane is having a tough time of it. His parents’ recent divorce is making him feel mixed up and angry and causing him to misbehave. A school trip to see The Opal, a 18th century sailing ship that has come to Albert Dock, should be a source of excitement, but alas Miles gets into trouble before he can even step aboard, and he is sent to cool down in a coach designated for troubled children.
          He encounters a funny looking little boy being bullied by bigger boys and he feels compelled to speak to him. he discovers his new little friend is called Alex Turner and has come from a school in Sheffield. Alex is too scared of the ship to go aboard and has been left alone by his friends. Miles can’t explain it in his young brain, but it feels like him and Alex have been friends forever. Alex’s fear spurs Miles to be brave and they decide to go onto the boat together.
          Both little boys are blown away by the huge ship. Miles weirdly feels as though he has been on it before, and when they visit the captain’s quarters they discover a huge surprise.
          Alex and Miles bond instantly, and when the time comes for them to be parted, Miles looks for any excuse to be allowed to go to Sheffield. Alex needs him and life just wouldn’t seem right if Miles wasn’t there to look after him.

Do you plan on writing another multi-chapter Milex story soon?

          Yours Is The Only Ocean
          Port Merryn, Cornwall 1785 and Alexander Turner is the youngest son of wealthy boatyard owner Abraham Turner. A kind and fair man, Alex is ashamed of the behaviour of his father and older brother Percy, and instead prefers to spend his time in the local village, usually in The Cornerstone Inn, offering legal advice to the poverty-stricken townspeople who have no one on their side.
          
          Into the village comes pirate Captain Miles Kane and his ragged crew, who find themselves in Port Merryn due to their ship being damaged. Sexy and wild, Miles draws attention from both the men and women of the town and he is determined to have fun during his stay in Cornwall and make some money along the way, whatever it takes.
          
          When Miles and Alex meet, it is hate at first sight. Alex fears Miles will lure the disenfranchised young men of the town into a life of piracy, and Miles sees Alex as the person blocking his way into making enough money to retire to the Caribbean. 
          
          As fate brings Alex and Miles closer together, will their hatred turn into passion? And when a tragic event happens, turning Alex against his family once and for all, will he be tempted to join Miles in his life of crime and danger?
