I'm just writing this announcement because today I received 2 messages in my feed from people pretending to be wattpad!!
So if you receive a message from "so-called official wattpad" These messages are phishing scams designed to steal your account credentials, personal information, or financial data. Several clear red flags reveal these are fake:
Posted on Public Message Boards: Official Wattpad warnings, account restrictions, or notices will never be posted publicly on your profile's message board. Wattpad communicates official matters through direct email or your private inbox.
No Official Badge: Authentic Wattpad Staff or Ambassador accounts always have a specific colored badge (like an orange "W") next to their username. The users posting these are ordinary accounts.
Suspicious Links: The URLs provided (e.g., http://0xB9B1EF79 or http://0x1F4C60EF) are obfuscated and do not point to a legitimate wattpad.com address.
Fake Threats: The messages use scare tactics like "legal escalation" or "GDPR / KYC compliance" to panic you into clicking quickly.
What you should do:
- Do not click any links in these messages.
- Report the accounts to Wattpad as scams.
- Delete the comments from your message board

@MissNyyy fellow writer here and girl i'm so glad i looked up some more recent updaters because i was so suspicious of it! changed my password already just because they posted on my board LOL immediately reported and deleted it too
