@Misty70 first I would take down all my opposition [methods including: disguising myself, becoming close with whatever heroes there are so they will not wish to fight me [when they find out I am a villain, see 'disguising myself'], cause 'accidents' to my fellow villains [no traces leading back to me], use knowledge from this world if that's possible, place spies into whatever leadership system exists [possibly through use of blackmail]] and cause an economic crisis to the land; and/or bring down the government from the inside. When chaos reigns, I will come as savior [if the heroes are on my side, I will manipulate them by placing false 'evidence' against the former government and prove my own will to help; the situation will be as such that if no help comes, thousands of people will suffer [any other help will have been secretly taken down before]]. When the world has been saved from whatever evil the heroes set out to defeat [either me or a bigger villain, in which case I will have offered my services and become a 'hero' myself] the power and influence will be all mine. I will hold incredible influence in the new government [without becoming president, or queen, or whatever else myself because I would despise all the paperwork that comes with it] and the love of both people and heroes alike; money, through my new influence and fame, will be of no consequence. I can live a life that suits my needs, whatever that may be at the time [luxury, adventures, etc.] while either having defeated my enemies, created bonds of loyalty with them so they cannot turn on me, or being too much of a threat to fight against.
That's what I'd do, but, y'know, that's just me! XD
