I don't know why, but I get really hurt when people comment on my clothes, my food, or even my sleeping habits.
The funny thing is, I genuinely don't care about random people's opinions. But when those comments come from someone I love and trust, someone I feel safe opening up to, they hit differently. Even if they don't mean any harm, their words stay with me.
I've always believed that it's my body and my life. I'll eat what I want, wear what makes me happy, and sleep the way I want. Unless I ask for advice, I don't understand why people feel the need to comment on every little thing.
My parents have always taught me one simple thing: "Jo mann bhaaye, woh tan bhaaye; baaki jag bhaad mein jaaye."
My cousin sister, who's five years older than me, does this sometimes. She'll say things like, "Don't eat chocolates," "Don't drink tea," or, "I saw your pictures, and I didn't like your outfit." And in my head, I'm just thinking, Did I ask for your opinion?
The confusing part is that she's actually a wonderful person. She's been there for me since we were kids, and she's usually very understanding. That's exactly why it hurts. When someone you love says something that makes you question yourself, it stings more than it would if it came from a stranger.
Maybe I'm just sensitive about people trying to control my choices. I don't know. I just wish people understood that not every thought needs to be spoken out loud. Sometimes, the kindest thing you can do is simply let someone be themselves.
At the end of the day, if I'm happy, comfortable, and not hurting anyone, I don't think I need anyone's approval to live my life.
Just wanted to share what was on my mind.
