It wasn't exactly a secret to everyone that Maki was an asexual. In fact, she had it quite obvious that that was the case when she had made a face of discust and horror during sex education when the teachers have talked about sex. The only issue was is that it took her a while to realise that she was in fact asexual, as well accept herself for it. Everyone was supportive of her when she came out, especially Kaito, which made her happy.
However, Maki quickly realised that Kaito may not necessarily believe that asexuality may be a thing, but that's another topic to unpack she's not willing to tell anybody. At least, not yet anyway. "
