Same here...my parents didn't want me to be a writer, they hoped I would become a doctor...So the combination of guilt and the fear of rejection made me 'kinda want to be a doctor'. I had a thing for doctors and wanted to marry one. Luckily it was a passing phase...
@moonlight318 Not many people want their kids to be writers...no fat paychecks and you'll spend many many years writing stuff that nobody seems to like and getting major self-doubt. People will laugh, no matter what we do...hard to please them.
@AnnWrites I have the same situation right now but not many people know I want to become an author because some of the few people I've told just laughed at me. Some day I hope to achieve my goal and prove them wrong.
