My name is LaMecca, also known as Ms Phoenix. I am 29 years old and from upstate New York. I have recently relocated to the West Memphis area to continue my journey as a writer. I have two self published poetry books available on Amazon entitled Phoenix Journey Of Poetry and
Phoenix Journey of Poetry Part II The Rise Of The Phoenix. I self published my first poetry book in March 2016 while residing in a homeless shelter. I taught myself how to self my book my book by watching YouTube videos. My poetry is a glimpse into my soul. I have been writing since I was young girl. I became obsessed with Def Poetry Jams growing up. My poetry is raw and real like my personality. It is a glimpse into the mind of the voiceless females surviving the atrocious environment of the urban communities. Love, sex, racism, mental illness, relationships, drugs, violence etc are the plethora of topics I express in my poetry books. My goal as a child was always to be an author. February 23, 2019 is my dirty thirty birthday. That is also my release date of my new novel titled Exhale. I am excited to join this community to build with others that loves what I love as I grow as an author. As we are the premature stages of the year I believe joining this community will allow me to acquire new skills as a writer. As a mother I always teach my children to go for their dreams, build with others and the only person that an individual is in competition with is themselves. This an opportunity for me to show my children that. I hope that my writing touches this community as I know I have already been inspired by many here. Peace and Blessings!
