And as I stood at the edge of the world, arms outstretched as if to grasp the stars (which winked at me mischievously as if they knew all my secrets), I found myself speechless and in tears--not only because I had witnessed first-hand the glorious beauty of the universe, but because, after so much time spent searching, I had finally known what it was like to feel alive. How wonderful that, at just a hairsbreadth away from free-falling into infinity, where time and space coalesced in an interstellar pas de deux that resonated throughout the cosmos, I found myself able to feel again--to love something other than my own misery, and to be so touched that I would vow to become a new person.
