Ok. I'm going to rant. For the third time today. Can everyone just stop. Comparing artists? Please? You may think that it's a complement to be compared to a famous artist, or to be said to have a similar art style, but it can be very unhelpful. (This is only for some people, this is my personal opinions) as an unconfident artist, I know these feelings. I have been wrongly accused of stealing art before and it had put a damper on me for months. It took almost 3 months for the other artist to get back to me and clear things up. I had drawn a car that had similar aspects to someone else's OC. people saw it and immediately accused me of stealing it and pirating it and being a shithead and stuff. Now, that was 2 years ago, when I was 11, and very impressionable and over-reacted a lot and didn't know how to take a hit. I stopped drawing for 2 months and tried to isolate myself because I felt like a fake. I had worked so hard on it and was extremely proud of it (which is rare) and people were just dismissing it as someone else's. Not only did that hurt, but it made me feel invalidated. It was my art and it was my creation! I loved it! When people started accusing me, I took it down and destroyed it. Art takes so much effort! Digital takes even more! Please! Please! When someone creates something they are proud of, even if it reminds you of someone else, just complement it and go on. Only if you have checked with the other artist that you think has been stolen from and confirmed that it was indeed stolen, ask the other to take it down. Even so, do it in a polite manner such as, 'Excuse me, I believe that that piece of art belongs to _________ and they don't want it to be here, could you please take it down' and most likely, the person will. PLEASE PLEASE I cannot stress this enough, don't make artists feel invalidated! Do your research! Think of other people!
