Bye Betty (hope you don't mind the nickname), may you rest in peace.
Obviously you have no idea who I am, and obviously I didn't know you either (I mean personally), but I almost always liked you, and I respected you (and just so you know, my respect is hard to gain), and your mother before you. But I can't say the same thing for your children.
People thought you were "cold", but I bet you weren't, you just stuck with the royal conduct code, or whatever that's called.
Not showing emotions doesn't mean not having/feeling them, or being cold, and I can relate to that.
I think you will be the last true Queen, times have changed, and besides, you have male descendants 'till your great grandson at least, so it'll be a long time before we'll see another Queen in general.
I know you were old, and it was coming, but I think your country still needed you.
They changed your national anthem already, but to me it will always be "God save the Queen". I think that was plain disrespectful to change it so quickly, even before your funeral.
I didn't respect you because you were the Queen, but for you actions, for instance not many royals stayed during the war, but you did, and your mother before you.
I usually don’t give a damn when someone dies, I may be feeling a little sorry for them, but I'm truly sorry you died. I always thought you were a "simpatica nonnina".
I'm not that young, but by the time I can remember of you, you had already grey hair, back then the news weren't like nowadays, you weren't all over the TV.
Anyways, just wanted to let you know that you will be missed.
So long Her Majesty Queen Elisabeth II.
If it’s not too much to ask, and you got the chance, please, say hi to my grandma, tell her I miss her so much. Thank you.
J
