Hey, I need a second opinion here. I have a story that has about six drafts and I'm wondering if I should scrap or publish. Here's the description:
In a world of people who can shift between human and their spirit, Emma Caulder is a butterfly. Passive. Meek. Shy.
Her school teaches youngling shifters how to use their power, and where to look for work, as the Emperor demands.
Being a butterfly is useless. Completely useless. Elephants can work in construction, Cats go into the military as spies. Everyone but butterflies is useful.
So Emma is raised with the failure of her duty resting on her, knowing that she'll be stuck in some boring job in the city. So when she receives a letter about her new duty in the palace, she's ready for the inevitable.
But what is boring about the words "Your eyes shine like emeralds?"
