Well my Hart series, it was mostly I just like zombie books and RH books. At the time when I first started the Hart series, RH was just starting to become popular and I couldn’t find any zombie RH so I decided to write my own. For other stories I have, I crazy wild dreams and sometimes I’ll build off of those. Or I get inspiration from other books/TV shows/ or movies. I’ll think to myself “okay but what if I took this idea and went in this direction with it.” Something I keep in mind is the fact that there is rarely an “original” idea. The concept of witches, wizards, ghosts, speaking to animals, flying on brooms, using wands was around before Harry Potter was created but JK Rowling just twisted the idea into her own. Look at Rick Riordan’s books. He took inspiration from Greek mythology and created an entire universe from it and did the research to add onto it by looking into mythology from different cultures. There’s inspiration in everything. I’m definitely not saying plagiarize other people’s work, because that’s not okay, but it is okay to be inspired by an idea you have from reading/watching books or shows or movies. Another thing I do, is write down and save quotes from people that strike me. And I’ll change them up and base an entire character off of something a random person has said.
