While Scarlett plans to join them once Julie is released the next day, Colin and the others leave. Julie falls asleep fairly quickly afterwards, while watching over Julie Scarlett falls asleep as well. When a nurse comes to check on Julie and change her IV 2-3 hours later Julie wakes up but Scarlett doesn't, thinking it's odd Julie tries to shake Scarlett awake but it doesn't work she then notices that Scarlett's lips are tinged blue and her breathing doesn't sound right Julie alerts the nurse who is still in the room and she promptly checks over Scarlett and realizes that something is seriously wrong, she hits the emergency button to page the doctor and more nurses. The doctor that come is the same one that treated Julie and upon verifying that Scarlett had been in the fire too he realizes that it's a delayed presentation of ARDS (acute respiratory distress syndrome) and immediately calls for supplies/equipment for intubation along with oxygen and some other meds. He performs the intubation himself and once he is satisfied that Scarlett is stable for the moment he has her removed from Julie's room and taken to a room of her own, he also sends for the results of her earlier blood work and orders a chest x-ray. Watching the whole ordeal happen sends Julie into panic mode and a nurse calls Colin who rushes back to the hospital to calm Julie and find out exactly what happened with Scarlett. Once he has Julie fairly calmed down the doctor pays them a visit and updates them on Scarlett's condition saying that she is stable and they had caught it soon enough that the damage to her lungs/respiratory tract isn't too severe and will heal in time, but for at least the next 2-3 days they will need to keep her sedated and intubated to protect her airway while it heals. A day goes by Rose, Cosmo and the rest of the family are informed (I'll leave it up to you whether or not the public finds out).
