Idea. Scarlett & Colin take the kids camping during a school break. While they are there a massive storm system rolls through one evening causing a nearby river to overflow & flash flood the area where their camp is. They try to flee to higher ground but everything happens too fast and they get swept away, fortunately they did have time to put on life jackets. They cling to each other as they are carried by the water Colin spots the roof of a building sticking out of the water they work together to try and reach it. They are able to grab ahold of the roof’s edge Colin is able to get himself and Cosmo onto the roof then Rose loses her grip on the roof, Scarlett lets go to grab her & succeeds as Julie reaches out using 1 hand to grab ahold of Scarlett while still holding onto the roof with the other this almost works then the piece that Julie is holding onto breaks off the rest of the roof the 3 are swept away. Scarlett and the girls struggle in the dangerous water getting hit by debris (thankfully their injuries are limited to a broken arm, a broken ankle, a dislocated shoulder, some cracked ribs. You decide who ends up with what along with assorted cuts/bruises for all.) They are eventually able to catch hold of a tree branch just above the waterline, they manage to climb up onto it although with the water still rushing by underneath/around them their position is still quite precarious. Due to the intensity of the storm, the dangerous flood waters & approaching dark they can’t begin the search/rescue efforts until the next morning. On the roof Colin & Cosmo are found/rescued fairly quickly on day 1 unharmed other than cuts/bruises, but Scarlett & the girls are not found so quickly & have to survive for 2 days on their own in the tree while injured. Once Scarlett & the girls are found/rescued, everyone is reunited at the rescue center/temporary shelter/field hospital. Scarlett & the girls are treated for their injuries/dehydration then released to recover at home.

Idea 2. Scarlett, Colin and kids head to upstate NY to spend the Holidays with their extended families. On the drive to the small town where everyone had rented cabins next door to each other they run into a snowstorm. They hit a patch of black ice while navigating a turn and end up sliding off the road into a ditch. No one’s hurt other than minor bumps and bruises but due to the snow the car can’t be seen from the road, and they have no cell service. The cabins are only 1-2 miles down the road, so they decide to get out and walk there. Due to bad visibility, they miss the side road that leads to the group of cabins that they rented and end up on an old private/service road that leads to some old wooden hunting blinds, they take shelter in one with a roof and 4 walls, making use of some old tarps/blankets to cover the window openings & to wrap around themselves. There is also a small wood-burning stove ( around 40 cm), they find some dry wood/matches in 1of the other blinds. They light a fire & huddle together for warmth as they wait for the storm to pass. Colin and Scarlett tell the kids stories to try & keep them awake since it’s dangerous to fall asleep in the cold but eventually, they lose the battle & soon everyone is asleep. The storm passes overnight, in the morning, they are woken by the sound of people calling their names, pounding on the blind as they dig their way to the door. The door swings open revealing Colin’s and Scarlett’s brothers, who had seen the smoke & come out on snowmobiles to investigate they are relieved to find everybody safe, just half frozen (mild to moderate hypothermia & some stage 1-2 frostbite. You choose who gets what and where.). They bring them to the cabins to warm up & call to have the car pulled out of the ditch and towed to the cabins. Lots of cute family snuggles/fluff at the end.
