It is a saying here -
Don't ask about poison from Meera, ask Shiva
Context: It is said that once demons and gods collectively churned the milk ocean, and found 14 gems or Ratnas, among which was the most poisonous venom, *Hala-Hal*, so strong was it that it was like an acid, where it falls it burns. No one or nothing was able to hold it, just from the vapours of it, everybody started dying, so our PRIMORDIAL LORD, SHIVA came to rescue and drank the poison. Only to held it in his neck or throat chakra getting named as Neelkantha.
Other incident is of Meerabai, a great devotee of Krishna, was given poison by her own family, as they disliked her acting like a ascetic all the times, the moment she drank poisonous rice pudding, she felt as if she ate Amrita, the elexir of life.
Summarise: Now what Meera drank was elexir, because Krishna took the poison, not wanting any danger to his devotee, while Shiva drank the most poisonous venom, only to save the whole universe.
So if we are in devotion, even the poison will become Elixir and if people are devoted to you, you might have to drink poison.
