⎯⎯ I wish editing was just rereading over my chapters, fixing grammar here and there, and then it’s ready….

          Because in reality, I’m rewriting paragraphs I baby-worded and skipped to return to later, filling in place holders I couldn’t think of in the moment or forgot, adding in details I forgot, details to make the scene feel fuller and characters more real, adjusting and deleting sentences to match the character’s personality and headspace, and to also leave some of the imagination to readers and not force-feed everything—then I’m re reading it out loud to myself over and over until I’m exhausted, basically acting it out/audiobooking that shit to ensure it sounds in character and it makes sense. It’s also how I know where to add italics based on the delivery I wanna portray. I’m acting that shit out! Not dramatically, but I’m also no stranger in acting so you can imagine how much fun that is. Once I rewrite something (the baby-worded and place holder shit), I have to reread it again. Oh, and then I get the best sentence rearrangment or detail idea while actively reading it outloud that I rewrite or add to the paragraph, which I have to reread again. NOT to mention my alpha reader is constantly reading throughout the whole process before, during, and after writing and offering feedback and etc.

And yes, it’s serious for me. Idc where I’m posting my shit and if 1 person is reading it, I’m always gonna make sure it’s the best quality I can create and that I’m happy with before pushing it out. It’s what I love doing. Every story is an extension of myself, an existence of my mind and effort of my time and love for a passion that’s so draining but so fucking fun at the same time. So I’m not putting out just anything and I don’t rush quality.

            This is also why ghost reading needs to die. Views is nothing. Votes/kudos is okay. But please comment and actively engage with your favorite books. It’s how they’ll eventually be completed cause it motivates the author to keep going and it’s good to know our efforts are being acknowledged. Cause all this time and effort for something to be ghostly read/consumed in under 5 minutes and still expecting updates ain’t it.

I’ve recently downloaded Speechify to read for me—which is the best investment I’ve ever made and has definitely cut down hours—but sometimes I’m still reading outloud alongside it. Or pause often to read it outloud. Then I set up the chapter in ao3 first cause when I paste it to wtp, it keeps the indent and I don’t have to do it twice. But I indent every paragraph. Mind you I’m writing 3k—6k words per chapter. Even more than I split. Then I use Grammarly to do last minute spelling and grammar checks I overlooked, which I always do especially with spelling mistakes. And then I sometimes get last-second-from-publishing idea to add in a certain scene. Even after I published the chapter. And I go right in to change and add it, quickly rereading it outloud to ensure it’s good. Then I don’t think about it after it’s posted…though sometimes I do notice mistakes when I read back my books. Yay.

            But when I say editing is the longest process ever for me, I’m not kidding. That shit takes forever depending on what needs fixing that I sometimes have to split it between 2 days at most. If I fit it in 1 day, it takes nearly all day. Sometimes it needs more so I take a little break to come back with a clear mind.

⎯⎯ two goals I’d like to complete in the future is ;

          1) write an idea someone gives me, that they passionately want to see written. And that I can also see the vision of cause I’m not just writing anything if I don’t like it too. This means they will actively work on planning out the idea —with some of my suggestions—while I’m actively writing it until completion. Which they will be added to the doc to see it through and add comments there or elsewhere. Kind of like ghost writing but still under my name with the credit completely to them. I think it’d be fun lowkey!

          2) collab with 2 authors. Whether we write a standalone but connected series, like one writes 1 book and another writes the other. Or we’re actively writing/plotting/editing 1 book together, alternating chapters or scenes per wants while still working together to shape what we wrote to match the story and etc (which I like best). Idkkkk I see the vision and there’s no right or wrong way when it comes to this cause I’ve seen collaborations in many ways. It almost happened with a mutual before but idk what happened. — this ofc would work best for me if we had similar writing styles and ideas/interests. Strengths and weaknesses we could work together to tell the story we wanna tell together !

          ⎯⎯ fanfics, ima write and post as I go despite most already been pre-written and planned thru. Idc anymore cause it’s fun and shouldn’t be treated seriously. Original books/fiction, ima write & complete offline-ish.

⎯⎯ creating a fat backlog of books offline to release this year. And I mean they’ll ((likely)) be nearly completely or completed, from what’s already published and new books too that’s been brewing for a while. I’m trying and believe I can do it cause no matter what, it’s coming out idc !!!
