~sneak peak of the new chapter
Reaching for her wand and the bag thrown carelessly in the corner of the room, Lyra speaks, “Hold him. Don’t let him move.” She lifts his shirt to get a closer view of the wound. A grimace forces its way on her mouth.
“Lyra, I don’t think he has it in him to move,” Marcus responds, holding onto Adrian’s shoulders and pushing down.
“I have a potion to stop the progression of the wound. It’ll freeze it over until we go back home. It’ll hurt enough to shock him into consciousness,” Lyra explains, getting the vial out. There is no way she’ll be able to stop the effects of the curse, it’s been far too long since he got bit. The goal now is to keep her friend alive.
Without hesitation she pours it on his wound, instantly Adrian screams, nearly headbutting Marcus in the process. “Stop!” He yells in pain, trying to get away from them, but it’s done. The potion has done its job.
The wound is dirty and Adrian is still pale, but he’s regained some consciousness. His eyes are hazy, inspecting the room lazily. “Leave me. Go,” he moans, pushing Marcus’s helping hands away.
