This is a turn for our country today. Our country had a very close election and now a man who bragged about sexually assaulting women is our next president. I personally am alright. He definitely was not someone that I wanted in office. I wrote in a vote during a classroom election. I am still sort of in shock. I am curious, but frightened as to how this will play out.
As a sexual assault survivor, I felt hurt and angered by Trump's degrading comments. They reminded me of the feeling that I was nothing more than a plaything, nothing more than a toy for boys. This made this election one of the hardest for me. My mental health suffered greatly.
I did not vote for either candidate this year, simply I believe in not voting for the lesser of two evils. I do not agree with Hillary at all, I also do not agree with Trump. I believe them to both be corrupt individuals. I am not libertarian. I am simply a girl trying to make the right decision for my mental health and hopefully for the country.
I am sad that our country has been so divided. Hate and prejudice has marked this election. I sincerely wish that we could start again. I hope everyone understands that you are loved, no matter your race, your age, your gender, your past.
You are important. So lets get out there and remind people that there is hope even in this turn out. Lets remind people that we are more than our political affiliations and we can still love each other.
