I'm currently working on my side project based on my collab's Percy Jackson x Hunger Games AU, and I was wondering if adding a detailed history of/overview of District One w/ info that's relevant to the story is a good idea or not?

@NoSaneHumanAllowed it can be interesting either way but it kinda depends on if you want it to be more mysterious or learnt over time, I plan on reading the story but I just haven’t gotten time to get around to it yet but depending on like the way other parts of it is written might also influence it, I would say in the actual HG and PJO books you kinda learn as you go but it’s up to you!!

Rain flooded the asphalt streets leading into Themisia, racing down the paved edges to find home in a storm drain. It came up around his ankles, dampening his boots a muddy shade of brown and drowning the bottoms of his jeans. The sky did not care as it continued to pour over the city. 
          
          The sensible part of Jove’s mind appreciated the rainfall- after months of drought plagued all of District 1, it was a welcome, well needed change. An expected change. Every year on Reaping Day, the Capitol would allow the cloud seeding famers from Mnemosyne Peak to shower the district with storms. Perfectly timed on the Capitol’s end; even with the meager water rations, the district wouldn’t last much longer. 
          
           And a great show of mercy from the Capitol, allowing a rebellious district Capitol resources. On a day of mournful remembrance, no less.

          Hiii everyone! I am very proud to say that my very first official fanfic chapter has been posted! A few months ago I was graciously invited to an amazing Hunger Games x PJO collab, where seven other authors and I have been working on awesome worldbuilding, OCs, chapters, and art. Finally, my chapter - District One’s Reaping - has been posted! 
          
          The chapter is 7.5k words, following Boudicea and Jove Rain! 
          
          If you’re into good worldbuilding, Greek Mythology/PJO, and the Hunger Games universe, I really recommend following this series! Even if my writing style isn’t your favorite, amazing authors whose fics I’m sure you’ve read (like TheRedSourPatchKid, Silmarilz1709, Nyrianni, and many more) also will be posting chapters soon!

Hey everyone! I just wanted to follow @WolfStar_Cabin7and8’s current trend of messages and use my platform to share positivity and love for a topic I’m really passionate about. 
          
          In my social feed and notifications, I’ve been noticing blatantly sexist and toxic messages more and more. While I really value protecting my peace and letting others with different views than I just do their own thing, I also know that I can use my platform to share positivity towards this topic. 
          
          This message is pretty long and broken into multiple messages, so please bear with me. I want to warn that later I do briefly talk about non-con, but this is overall supposed to be a positive post about this dire topic. 
          
          There have been messages talking about how women are too emotional, sensitive, and domineering compared to men. I just wanted to share my thoughts by saying there isn’t anything wrong with anyone of any gender being emotional. Humans are one of the only animals who has the complexity to share their emotions and be vulnerable around others, and we collectively should not be ashamed of having ‘negative’ emotions. I personally believe that society has pitted sadness as a ‘feminine’ emotion and anger as a ‘masculine’ emotion, and I think we all know which one of those is considered more negatively. 
          
          Toxic masculinity is a big part of cultures worldwide. Men are often told that they aren’t allowed to cry, to show any sort of vulnerability, that they need to ‘be a man’, which of course means instead to bottle all of their emotions until they can’t help but explode in anger at the littlest things. 
          
          This is utter bullshit. Everyone experiences emotions, and I’m happy to be living in a time where we are trying to change this course of thinking and learn how to leave that toxicity with our parents and grandparents.

I’m sorry for rambling. I could talk about this topic for days, but I really don’t know how much I want to discuss this time around. 
            
            Overall, I hope I brought other people to realize that it’s okay to show their emotions no matter their gender and that people realize not to stereotype, if that’s the right word, based on their own experiences and what other people tell them. If you say all women are ‘impatient, unreasonable, emotional,’ others can go and say men are ‘rapists, controlling, and dangerous.’

Vulnerability and sensitivity are pitted as negative and are therefore assigned to the female-esque gender(s). I do not see why being able to express yourself, healthily manage your emotions by allowing people you trust to know how you truly feel, and allowing yourself to feel these things before letting them go should be seen as a negative thing. 
            
            Of course, it all comes down to gender roles, and while I personally believe they have their place in /some/ situations, this is not one of them. We need to leave this belief that only some genders can feel certain emotions and that if they do, they are less of a human. We are all human; we all feel these emotions and how we go about expressing (or not expressing) them should not separate us. 
            
            
            I also wanted to bring my thoughts on a problem I’ve noticed in all sexist, racist, and other ist/phobic messages. And this is grouping everyone in a group - normally a minority- as all the same. 
            
            This is simply not true. Everyone in a group is different. In my experience, I have encountered men who have done and said awful things to my friends and me.
            
             Just recently, I had a teenage boy say he was going to force me to go on a date with him when I repeatedly said no. He then stalked me on other socials and then my friends in person after I blocked him. Boys have threatened many of my female friends with forcing us to stay home, take away our voice, and ‘pop out kids whenever I want’. I have had adult men look upon my teenage friends and me with lust and other horrible intent. 
            
            And yet I do not group all men into that category. I could go around and say every man ever is nasty, sex hungry, rapists who only want someone to control.  But I don’t. 
            
            I do not go around and think that all men believe that way and do not treat them as such. I know that not everyone thinks that way, and I wish other people would have the sense to recognise this as well about other groups.
