Don’t you hate when you lose a fanfic?

So I have an idea for a multi-crossover fanfiction series, and I've had it for a while. I really love the idea of it, but I'm struggling a little with the first two chapters of it, so I was just wanting some input on whether or not I should post it once I've written those chapters. If I do, the updates will likely have a huge time gap between them.
          
          So, if I do post it, should I wait until I have the first book written and post that according to a schedule of sorts while writing the second?
