The literal sense is someone
or something is disfigured by permanent scars received (say) in an accident. The figurative sense is a person having or showing lingering signs of mental trauma or mental damage, and such a sign might be nightmares, PTSD, etc... OH, AND CALL ME RASPBERRY, OR WHATEVER YOU WANT, I LIKE NICKNAMES. Wow, RIP caps.
