mercury hadn’t even met mars completely at the time - maybe they’d gotten each other’s names , spoken once or twice casually after mercury had gone on a walk with his boyfriend’s usual , ' be back in a few or else . ' this time , though , was different . directly from the dance studio , where his boyfriend had yelled at him for being the slightest bit off . his eyes were puffy , breath shaky . and instead of walking , he ran . ran until his legs couldn’t take it due to the aching and soreness . he then fell forward into someone - and that someone happened to be mars .

" it was my fault . i should’ve been watching where i was running . " he stated immediately after mars had spoken , looking down at his feet and rocking back and forth on his heels . before realizing that , in his run to get out , mercury hadn’t put shoes on . quickly , he slid his bag off and grabbed the pair of sandals he had before sliding them on . it wasn’t too terrible to be running barefoot on the sidewalk - it happened several times , so it was something to get used to .

nodding curtly , the dancer took his hand very hesitantly with his own shaky one and managed to steady himself on his feet . it was only natural that it happened easily - he was a dancer , after all . but thinking about dancing got him pondering over the state of his boyfriend , which was not something he wanted to think about . so , internally , he shook the thought away . " yeah , i’m - fine . everything’s fine . are you okay ? " he whispered , shaking slightly as he quickly moved his hand away from mars . you never knew who could be lurking somewhere when the street was busy and crowded .
