@SCELERATUSVIR ▎of course i brought a flashlight!  im not stupid..     *   swinging his bag of supplies off of his shoulder and round to the front of his torso,  he begins to rifle through it,  searching for the familiar shape of a torch.  there’s no such shape.  so,  cursing beneath his breath,    *    um.  i didn’t bring a flashlight.

@SCELERATUSVIR ▎*   police officers. the words send a sort of shiver down his spine. he’s had his fair share of trouble with those particular adults, though found that somehow—     he always escaped. he doesn’t know how he does it. he can’t even remember doing it, sometimes. the boy swallows.   *   ..yeah.  yeah,  it is.  they’re—      /awful./  it’d be an orphanage they’d take us all to,  probably.  i haven’t heard anything good about those kinds of places.

[  the adults  —  police officers.  it’s a term that makes every hair on ryuu’s body stand on end.  he hesitates,  working up the courage to say it out loud.  ]  they’re ..  police officers.  they want to take us somewhere,  they don’t want us living on the street.  but we  /can’t/  go somewhere else.  they’re not friendly ..  sometimes,  adults bring us food or they leave it intentionally so we can take it.  the police officers beat us and punish us.  it’s better to run away than try to earn their pity.
