            the car rots- slowly, shamefully, as if aware of its own obsolescence- sitting beneath a collapsing carport that once dreamed of being a garage, its once-glossy carrot coloured paint now faded to a despairing pale pinkish rust, peeling like sunburned skin under the relentless battering of sun, rain, bird droppings, and neighborhood kids with questionable intentions and even worse aim, while vines creep in like nosy neighbors through every cracked window and split tire, snaking around the steering wheel in a jealous embrace, filling the air inside with the mingled scents of mildew, moldy old McDonald’s wrappers, and the ghost of pine-scented air fresheners from a bygone era, all while the tires sigh out their final breaths of air like ancient lungs, the windshield plays host to spider colonies and post-apocalyptic dust murals, and the radio, if you were to miraculously bring it to life, would probably play nothing but static or that one haunting love song from 1989- heh ts-, the one the car remembers from its glory days when it sped down highways without a care, blissfully unaware that one day, decades later, it would become a moss-covered monument to forgotten dreams and expired registrations.
