I've been insanely swamped with my penultimate semester of uni (why am I taking 6 classes AND working what the actual hell), so I completely missed my TEN YEAR WATTPAD ANNIVERSARY! I cannot believe it's been that long.
I'm super sick right now (what's new), but I want you all to know how grateful I am. I joined Wattpad in the 6th grade when I was 11, a few months after my family's house got smacked around by a tornado and we would be forced to spend a couple years living in a different area of town while we rebuilt. There were several years of me writing the absolute worst books imaginable, but I'm so glad I had this platform, this space, and this community to learn, grow, and hone my craft.
It's insane to think that I went through my pre-teens and my teens on here, and have already started going through my early 20's on here. I turn 22 in February, and I graduate in May, and it's all so, so insane. Like, what do you mean it was over 6 years ago that I joined the Wattpad Stars program? It hasn't been 3 years since I was in middle school????
I feel like pretty much every dream I had as a pre-teen on Wattpad---dreams about being even a little bit of a Somebody, dreams about seeing my works on the banner or on the homepage or the Editor's list or Wattys Shortlist, dreams about setting foot in Toronto HQ (ermmm but where's my Hulu original series??)---have come true. I'm so proud to say that I've spent nearly half my life on this site, maturing and learning and finding myself alongside everyone here. To everyone that has supported me, thank you so, so, so much. You're the reason I'm still here.
