GUYS thank you for all the recent love on BOYS OF WEST DENTON! I promise I'll respond to comments soon - I just started my first big girl corporate job, so I've been swamped. Do any of y'all have a preference over which book should update next...? I want to try and finish at least one project, because it's looking like I'll be staying pretty busy over the new few weeks with training and other commitments.

This might seem like a weird, long rant, but it's important, and I'd say it to legitimately anyone's face.
          
          It isn't lost on me that, in its process of dropping the ball during Pride once again, Wattpad - with 8 days left in June - has made a banner to promote just ONE of its curated queer identities lists ... being bxb. This is no hate to those authors whatsoever (I see several friends there, and I also write bxb). This is me wondering how sincere Wattpad is with their Pride month recommendations.
          
          Years ago, Wattpad would make several posts on social media. This year, not counting a few stories I've seen, they have made two dedicated queer posts: a largely static reel, and a single-slide post. What happened to partnering with queer creators for affiliate marketing (which supports the community)? What happened to posting more than twice?
          
          This increased lack of care from Wattpad for their queer community comes at when we're seeing a sharp rise in right-wing, fascistic ideologies. This, coming in the same year where "Heated Rivalry" blew up (which deserves its flowers, but was also arguably fetishised, largely by straight women who are avid consumers), makes me question how sincere Wattpad is when it comes to treating their queer community right.
          
          I know there are lovely people at HQ who care; this isn't meant to target anyone directly, but instead - as someone with two business degrees - question the motives behind Wattpad's current Pride month strategies. Doing so little for all of Pride; comparing books to "Heated Rivalry" simply because they are bxb/mlm and involve *a* sport, and it's a marketable comp; and then, last minute, banner-promoting ONLY bxb stories, makes Wattpad's approach to Pride feel underbaked if not borderline fetishistic.
