Hello! I've seen your comment on "Bubble" and decided to drop by your message board.
The ending was actually the first thing I had thought of when I was brainstorming for the cover. At least the part where they broke out of the sphere and they watched it shatter.
I wanted the story to end with Naia finally freeing them from the bubble that was created to shield them from being eradicated. Thus, it ended with a 'pop' which only meant that they don't need protection anymore.
