Being continuously out of step with the rest of the world is not necessarily a bad thing, but it does have it's disadvantages, especially when trying to figure out where the heck people like us belong. After all, don't we deserve a place where we can be out of step with the world together in peace and safety?
          
          From a young age I wondered if maybe the Island of Misfit Toys might provide some sanctuary for people like us.
          
          I set sail immediately and soon, due to an acute lack of nautical skills, found myself stranded on it's shores, but when I asked King Moonracer if I could stay he said "no".
          
          When I asked him why, he said that only toys are allowed to stay on the island. I proceeded to point out that, as a winged-lion creature, he himself was neither a toy nor a misfit. Then King Moonracer repeatedly bit me on the face and neck.
          
          It was at that very moment I decided the Island of Misfit Toys was a most inhospitable place and have avoided it ever since.
          
          So, if you feel the way I do, and are seeking such a sanctuary in this world, avoid the Island of Misfit Toys, and join me by my side instead and we can stumble our way through life at our own pace together...

Hey everybody. Should anyone be interested, I finally published the first chapter of The Misadventures of Arlo Gimse: Orphan of The Universe. You might recall that I published a short little one-off story involving the Arlo character back in October. A very small number of people bothered to read it. Thank you if you were one of them. I mentioned it being part of a much larger work that I've been working on for well over a year now. Arlo grew out of my own inner-child, but eventually took on a life all his own. Still, the subtitle of Orphan of The Universe seemed appropriate. Anyway, here is the beginning of his story. Hope you like it. Peace!

Hey everybody. It's been a minute. I just published the start of something new. I've been working on this for over a year now. It started as a project to reconnect with my own inner child, but over time, that child developed what I can only describe as a life of it's own, and, lately, I'm not so much writing about him, rather, he talks and I listen, if that makes sense. He even has his own name, background, experiences, history, etc. Initially, I was having him interact with various literary characters - The Little Prince, Merlin, The Childlike Empress, Sara Crewe, etc. - but eventually it became clear he wanted to tell his own story, and that's what I let him do now. Turns out he has a lot to share, and it's a voice I think is much needed in the world today. Hopefully I can finish this project and bring him into the world before I run out of time on this planet. Hope you like it. Let me know what you think.
