The dark and divine.’ So basically, Ares wiped Athena’s memories and made her mortal, she was raised by a kind old couple, Ares was planning to kill her and give her soul to Hades who was going to use the soul to bring back Persephone. He disguised himself as a man named ‘Zeno’ and befriends Thanea (Athena). Eventually, Ares found that he couldn’t do it and that he was beginning to fall for Athena. Now he’s doing everything to protect her while Hades is trying to bring back Persephone.
