It’s somewhat bittersweet to see how deserted wattpad and ff.net are nowadays. I mean, from my perspective at least. There’s probably still several fandoms on the two sites that are still booming but as far as recognition and prominent activity goes it’s all AO3 for the gals and gays and spacebattle forums for tha dudes
Looking back on it. I discovered this site alongside Fanfic.net way back some time in 2018. I can’t remember when exactly but it was around when the DOOM: Eternal gameplay teasers had been released lmao.
That aside, I started off reading mostly RWBY fanfics, especially the reader kind n all that jazz. I’ve completely stopped touching them since early 2020 (I think?). It’s new years 2025 as of the time I’m writing this, and when I look back on it.
Those fics I read really weren’t even all that lmfao. At most, they were decent. The only exception being ThienLibra’s works. At this point, Rooster Teeth has pulled the rug in and closed their doors after 2 decades, crazy right? Now, RWBY’s in VIZ’s hands last I heard. Time flies by so fast when you’re older man.
Scratch that part about Rooster Teeth, looks like they’re back. Happy for them since it looks like it’s going right back into the hands of the original owners.

Wattpad gotta be a thought experiment constructed for the sole purpose of weeding out the social rejects brah. With how many fics are around aimed towards inserting the reader into the lead role of the story. Funny thing is nearly every single one of them suck with the exceptionally good ones that have a proper story, gives the characters an actual personality and includes solid world building being as rare as a needle in a haystack brah
