I reallyyyy be trying to find some good books on here, but are we really still starting off with somebody loud ass family member or lifelong best friend waking them up? That’s so 2015. Don’t get me started on these unrealistic descriptions of a teenage protagonist

I’m all for authors writing how they want especially since I can’t tell them how to write. BUT, if you gonna write about a city you never been to, DO YOUR RESEARCH. Idk how many botched stories I’ve read based in New York. Get the slang right, make sure these locations actually exist. There is no Walmart, Publix, Kroger, Sam’s Club, Ralph’s, NONE of that. We have regular ass supermarkets. Only people in Spanish Harlem and other Spanish speaking communities do they call the corner store a bodega. Everybody else calls it a corner store. Bodega is now in pop culture for non-New Yorkers. I’ma be tight if I run across another book based in New York and they don’t know what the hell they talking about!
