I have a confession: I may or may not be living a dark academia fantasy by writing a Wednesday Fanfiction

CelestialBirdZ

How are you, author? As always, I hope you’re doing well! The trailer for the new spin-off A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms just dropped and I’m SO EXCITED!! I have to admit, Egg kind of reminds me of Gaella a bit :)❤️❤️ Any thoughts?

I am also so very excited for the new spin-off, and it’s helped me finally conquer my writing stump I’m in. This next chapter has been rewritten 17 times because it just has not been right, but I think I’ve finally cracked it and should have it out soon. Egg is so quintessentially Egg that it makes my soul happy, and I suppose as Gaella is so quintessentially Gaella it makes sense that he’d remind you of her :)

Hi author, ❤️I believe I have finally developed a theory about the White Dragon in Gaella’s dream. This dragon actually represents a future version of herself, after the Dance, when she must choose between remaining true to herself or fully embracing her role as queen. Both share the same brown eyes, a detail that is surely not insignificant.

A quote from Maester Aemon to Jon Snow then came to mind: "Kill the boy and let the man be born." This single sentence could explain why the dragon appears so menacing toward her. It symbolizes the inevitable transformation she must undergo. The dragon, a manifestation of Gaella’s future self, recognizes her past self and seeks to "kill" her with fire, knowing that she must shed who she once was to bear the weight of the crown.

Throughout the story, many people—most notably Rhaella and Harwin—have emphasized Gaella’s kind heart and benevolent nature. Before their deaths, both gave her the same final words: never lose who she is.

Yet, in the following chapter, a reflection emerges on broken promises and the difficult choices we must make in life. This contrast seems to foreshadow a turning point for Gaella: sooner or later, she, too, will have to let go of a part of herself—kill the old Gaella—to become the queen her destiny demands.

The Godswood crown also holds great significance, as it is said that this wood possesses magical properties and a connection to the whispers of the past. I don’t think it’s a coincidence that she has such a crown—perhaps there is a link to the Starks or the Riverlands.
Gaella is a dreamer, so it’s possible that she is forging a mystical connection with the Old Gods.

That would be a very interesting development for her character. With her survivor’s guilt, the idea of sacrificing herself for her people and the family she has left would add even more depth to her journey. After the deaths of most of her family, Gaella will have no choice but to take the control herself to ensure the survival of her house.
I can only imagine the incredibly strong bond between Aegon III and Gaella,it would be unbreakable. Even if she does not become queen, I am certain she will serve as regent, and despite the pain she endures, she will become a symbol of hope for her house.

Author, I have a question: One thing I’ve noticed while reading this fanfic is how much Gaella and Dany resemble each other far more than the rest of their Targaryen family. Their mentalities seem to align in many ways.
In your opinion, what would they think of each other? How would Gaella see Dany, and vice versa? How would Dany perceive Gaella (her ancestor)

Parma_Violas

@CelestialBirdZ Quite honestly, I’m not decided yet. After Apricus, I think I’d need to shift into another universe, but it is certainly one that I can see myself going back to. The work that will most likely be released after Apricus is a Merlin inspired Fanfiction, that uses storylines and ideas from the Old French and Medieval Arthurian material surrounding the idea of Nyneve, the Lady of the Lake. What I can assure with is the fact that Apricus will have an Epilogue that will be set in the current ASOIAF storyline :)

I find this absolutely adorable and so true! Gaella has such a motherly nature, especially towards her family, and the idea that Daenerys sees her as a mother figure is incredible.
Can I ask you: after the end of Apricus, do you plan to write a new story but following the Game of Thrones era with a new plot and a new main character? (Just a question, so no pressure!)

A wonderful question! Let’s start with Gaella’s thoughts on Dany. Above all else, Gaella respects Daenerys, but she dislikes that she respects her because of what it is that has caused her respect. Gaella would feel a protective and maternal instinct towards Dany, wishing to take her under her wing and protect her from the world, while also guiding her to help make her own way. Daenerys does not remember her Mother, having lost her so young. When she thinks of Rhaella Targaryen’s face, she imagines that she is similar to Gaella Targaryen, both in temperament and in appearance. Daenerys would view Gaella as the Mother she never had, the Mother she always wanted, and the Mother she never believed would ever come back. When Gaella attacks Viserys for his treatment of his sister, Daenerys finally believes that someone is fighting alongside her. When Gaella threatens the Dothraki and stands by Daenerys’ side, Dany understands what it means to be a strong woman. Gaella would show Dany that a woman can have a voice, it can be heard, and it can be powerful. She would then sit with silent pride and watch as Daenerys discovered her voice, her power, and herself, and would watch on in unparalleled support as she cheered on the Princess Who Was Promised.
