Paul J. Newell was born in Somerset, England, an unsettlingly long time ago, and is the reader of dozens of aware-winning books. He decided to become a writer himself so that he didn't have to get up so early in the morning. The Turning was his first attempt at a novel and was considered almost unanimously as really not that bad. After running out of friends and family to coerce into buy it, he decided it was time to write another book. And after a couple of years' procrastination, he immediately set the cognitive wheels in motion. Altered States was the result of that motion, and was considered even better than The Turning. The author has also published a series of short stories, titled the Manuka Experiments, and is currently working on his third novel.
