Actually, the Lost Boys isn't really a carbon copy of Twilight, although I can see the similarities. The skeleton is like Twilight: moving to a new town, supernatural love interest... But I feel that Lilian has fleshed out the story so that it is a whole different creature. The differences become larger the further away from the beginning you get. I'm reading the sequel, and I can say with certainty that TLB is a whole new thing.
Besides, if you think about it, fiction has many tropes. A LOT of themes have been and will be repeated. (Star Wars is a classic example.)
