I started writing in the fifth grade, making up stories about me and my friends. And also making up stories about characters I've read about or seen in movies, especially characters whose journeys I felt were not complete or characters who just needed another journey. Ever since then I have been working through plots, creating conflict, and trying to change the lives of characters who pop up in my head.  

I write light science fiction and high fantasy for young adults.  I love this age group because it encompasses a period of learning, growth, challenges and strengths.  I love the science fiction/fantasy genre because I have a huge imagination, and this genre allows me to explore anything and everything I want.  Sometimes, plots and characters I didn't know I wanted until they appear on the page.  

A little about my educational and professional background: After earning my bachelor of arts in English and linguistics and my master of arts in education, I started working with high school students, encouraging and guiding them towards post-secondary education.  Working with high school students gives me easy access to the world(s) and minds of young adults, for whom I write.
