Have you ever gotten into a car and just drove to a place? It didn’t matter where you went so long as you were somewhere other than Here. I use the word “Here” to mean the thing you want to get away from. Whether that be a relationship, stress, or even simply the scenery around you. What ever the Here may be, you’d rather be in any place but that Here. Currently, I am in the car, with my mother and sister, driving to San Francisco, escaping a Here. Watching the golden valleys ripple in the winds, like waves over the large hills beside us. And i can’t help but wonder if someone in a car, three, maybe four, cars ahead of us may be seeing the same thing I am. Escaping a Here and thinking of how, why, and even what, they are seeing, and when did it get there? Unable to put the feeling into words. We all want to escape some type of Here. Lay back, look out the window, and think for a while. Don’t think about anything but what’s right there beyond that window. It doesn’t have to be for long, maybe only five minutes. Drink in every detail you can see. And wonder when it was that you stopped looking out that window. Maybe you catch a glimpse of puffy white clouds, evergreens in the distance, birds flapping their wings sailing to new horizons: what ever the case may be, just think about it. Sometimes, it’s all we need to do to clear our heads and escape the Here. It’s temporary, but it can help. Keeping on looking up to the sky, and the Here will seem so much more distant than it used to.
