Hi. Recently I started reading your book the great Indian series and this new roommate ones. And all of them are so so fantastic, like so perfectly paced, realistic characters and their emotions. I feel comforted by them. It’s so rare to find such stories on Wattpad. Im glad I found them and always have to Reread them from my library.

And also When’s the next update for The Roommate Survival Guide?

Hey @Philitric
Firstly, it feels great to see TGIOR completed. It's a story I was intrigued about, ever since the first time I read TGICR. It was a time when I wasn't actively commenting or messaging people on this app and was a silent reader. Which is why you'll notice, I haven't commented on either TGICR or TGIWR, while I've read and loved both. I actually read TGIWR first and after its epilogue, decided I wanted to know how Angad & Meera's journey panned out. Eventually I ended up liking TGICR romance more. I remember coming back to a couple of chapters and re-reading even after the first time, cuz I felt this weird attachment to them.

I wanted to read TGIOR immediately after and belatedly realised it hadn't been updated in months. But eventually my love for office romance & curiosity for Vahni's story got the better of me and I ended up reading, tho I was dead against starting ongoing works.

I had become quite vocal on wattpad by this time so I decided I'll write to you telling you how much I loved TGICR, Angad, Meera and the rest of the characters. That's what led me to send you that little appreciation post, a few months back. Since you were inactive, I didn't expect a reply. Imagine my surprise when you actually did. That too, on such a personal note. I wished you well and resigned myself to accepting that TGIOR might not get updates in the near future, even it would, it would be irregular.

So around 10 days back when you announced daily updates until TGIOR's completion, you best believe, I was thrilled. And today, TGIOR has finally come to a close. It's kinda bittersweet. This is the only book I've so patiently waited for. I, as a rule, avoid ongoing works and binge-read completed ones. It's to avoid subjecting myself to the frustration of waiting for updates while also running the risk of writers suddenly going MIA. I dunno what it was about Dev and Vahni that made me break my rule. They were oddly captivating. Now, coming to the book itself...

@Philitric heyy.. thanks for this long reply.

The fact that TGIOR is Vahni's story, solely, really explains why the ending felt the way it did. But then again, the blurb of TGIOR and the two books preceding this in the series, set the expectation that this is Dev & Vahni's story. If the intent was always this ending for TGIOR, then this is more of a coming-of-age story than a romance. Guess the previous two books set a high precedent for this one, which is why it felt underwhelming.

I agree that TGIWR is the better written book in this series. The characters, the dual pov and the unconventional way the airport scene was handled – all of it was perfect!

Appreciate that you took out the time to actually write a message explaining the thought process behind this book. I'm relieved that you've taken the criticism in a positive way. Lots of love and good luck to you❤️❤️

            PS - omg, yayyyy!!! Can't wait✨️

TGIOR has characters who are nearing thirty or have crossed that milestone. They are a lot more mature and restrained, especially since they meet in a professional setting. Like I said, this wasn't Dev or Aakash's story. This was Vahni's journey. The choice to write in Vahni's perspective was a deliberate one.
I am sorry you (and many others, lol) found the ending underwhelming but this exact end was always my intention from page one.
I like to think that Dev or no Dev, Vahni would have figured it all out. Getting the man was just a cherry on top.
I also like to think that this is absolutely not her ending. She is not one of those women who peak in their twenties and then fizzle out. She has a happening life ahead of her.

Thank you once again for this long message and your lovely comments. It has been a delight having you as one of my readers.

Lots of love from this author!

            PS., Epilogue coming soon.

Alright, time for a full reply.

            1/2

Firstly, more than votes, appreciation, etc., this is what has touched me the most. The fact that someone interacted with my work critically.
I thank you wholeheartedly for your constructive criticism.
I think the reason you felt that there wasn't as much emotional weight in the climax of TGIOR was because somewhere along the way it evolved from a simple office romance to a story about a woman who is trying to navigate her late twenties in a way that feels most authentic to herself.

I wrote these three stories in three very different phases of my life.

I was still in college when I wrote TGICR. A lot of it is borrowed from my experience. Especially, how everything feels like it's the end of the world. Hence the drama. Angad is a young boy too. He feels deeply and expresses himself transparently. The stakes aren't quite as high when you are that young, right?

TGIWR came after I experienced a little bit more of this world. It felt more balanced because it was both Siddharth and Chetna's story equally. (In my opinion, the better story out of the ones I have written)
