As someone who stayed up extremely late contacting spirits last night, a sudden and early wake-up call was less than welcomed. Nevertheless, a familiar, flour-covered hand was placed on my shoulder and jiggled me awake. "Luna..." a voice beckoned. Her tone was like rusted bells -sweet, but rough around the edges. A groan escaped my dry lips as I rolled over to face who had awakened me.
My eyes first took in the kind green eyes of my best friend who stood beside me, along with the pile of boysenberry-colored dreadlocks atop her head. Where any signs of tire might have been, freckles could be found instead. Twyla was always up with the sun or earlier, but acted so lively. I wondered how the hell she could do it. "Don't you remember what today is?" she asked.
As I raked my fuzzy brain for an answer, I glanced at the little analog clock hanging on the wall across the room. It was 8 o'clock in the morning. I had gotten about three and a half hours of sleep. I felt my tired muscles stretch as I let out a sigh.
