Dear Wattpad. Here's my Christmas list.
1. A better way to block tags, or replace that system entirely. It's useless as it is now. I mean, 10 tags max? Seriously? That's as good at blocking stories as a fence made of glass blocking a charging bull. Most lazy ass idiots don't even use enough tags nor even the correct ones.
2. Update the story searching system. I have to scroll down, and down, and down, and it's sooooo annoying when I'm on mobile. And then when I go back after clicking on a story, I'm back at the top and have to scroll down, and down, and down all over again. Also, replace the option to search by chapters to search by reading time. Many stories have about 10+ chapters but all of them combined only have 5+ minutes of reading time. (you know who you are)
3. Make the ratings easy to understand. I have no fucking clue how stories get number 1 in certain tags. How is it even being calculated? The votes are given to chapters, not to the tags used. As far as I know, it's completely random.
What do YOU wish for Wattpad to change/update/implement?
1. Remove the "Comment may be offensive" warning. Who on here was offended by swears for them to add a whole ass warning? Who were they warning, the kids? News flash, most books on here would pass that boundary anyway.
2. Revert the comments section back to the previous format of "First replay is at the top" or just make the comment section like Instagram's. Do you know how annoying it is to scroll down the replies to find the first one THEN you have to scroll back up to follow the replies? Why couldn't it have been just scrolling down instead of scrolling down then up?
3. Not to do with the app itself but with the authors... If you have like a 30 page book right? And at least 90% of the book is not actually readable content like actual chapters and instead it's a glorified photo album. Yeah just take down the story. I apologize if I sound mean but when you find a book and it looks interesting and beefy, like you can read it for weeks, only to find there's no story in the storybook yeah you can understand what I'm saying.
@Pink_Jester Definitely number 2. There should at least be a filter that lets you search for recent popular books and old popular books separately. And number 3, because even though I haven't been working on my ROTOH for a while, I'm still getting tags ranked as number 1. And yes to the DM's. I lost a few friends after it was removed, and it's even more annoying that Wattpad leaves only guidelines or sales for their own app.
Force authors to specify whether a book has a female or male MC, and to specify if it's bxb, gxg, or bxg.
That way I won't be reading a story and realize midway it's gay, or it's actually ment for female readers.
I'm only fine with reading books like those IF the author specified it in the tags. If I want to read some hot, sweaty, and spicy say gex, I'll god damn look for it, I don't wanna be jumpscared.

Quick question.
If I were to write a Robots, the 2005 movie, story, what would you expect/like to see in it? And what sort of plot do you think is more interesting? Following the movie with an insert, or post movie original chapters? Human or robot insert?
I recently rewatched a bunch of my childhood movies because depression and existential dread, and this one stuck out to me. For those who don't remember the movie, it's the one with the old robot lady with an ass the size of a car.
This is just something I'd like to do in the future, so you wouldn't see it happening anytime soon. Just a fun idea.
I'm 100% sure I've read every single IzukuxHarem story that isn't cringe or cancer inducing. All that's left now are the bottom of the barrel abused/op trash with shitty grammar and terrible plot.

@Pink_Jester Tbh that’s not even limited to the MHA fandom. This shit also happens frequently in RWBY, Highschool DxD, and those Union Academy mass crossover fics. Which is sad since those settings have the potential to be used to write great fanfics (and they have!) but many people take the easy route of using the cookie cutter premise that is a hilariously OP reader insert x harem with a sob story of an origin. And this isn’t to say that OP protagonists can’t be written to be engaging, I mean, look at One Punch Man. Just have the conflict be something they’re not good at.
Two words. Helltaker, adoption.
