My name is Anthony but feel free to call me whatever you want: Ant, Tone, Tony, Kwon, The Tulip...what have you. I grew up in a coastal village called Mystic, bordering the Long Island Sound.
I have been drawn to Science Fiction for my entire life. It all began at the helpless age of three when my father showed me Jurassic Park for the first time. This endearment was dialed in to a subgenre when I first fondled in my hands the novel Metro 2033 by Glukhovsky. This book became a series, which were then transformed into a pair of video games that went by the same title. The Metro Universe was exactly what I was looking for, and as my research grew, I found other classic titles, among them Roadside Picnic by the Strugatsky brothers. These stories took a fresh view on the apocalypse, something not seen in their Western counterparts. I had not previously thought a subgenre could vary based on culture and region.
I was wrong.
These stories handled the apocalypse in a fashion I was much more comfortable in. Instead of using the setting as a basis for dark humor and copious gore, these tales used the setting as a platform to explore the defile in human characteristic and personality - the way someone reacts in the face of a harrowing choice. It was from these that I would draw the most inspiration - to replicate and present to the Americanized subgenre the more serious tones, atmospheres, and themes driven throughout Metro and Roadside.
So, with that, I present to you my story: Primal Gambit. The first in a series of two thus far and growing exponentially. It is my divine hope to gain a following - from there I will put all my time and effort into publishing the second and finishing the first draft of the third. So continues The Ghostlands Series.
