          In late June, when I first read @hayitshayley 's heartwarming, thoughtful book "Date Me For Justice," I was intimidated. I had just begun to write my own fake dating book and was hopeful, desperate for readers like the hundreds of fan fictions I had read. Even if it wouldn't necessarily affect my statistics, I was sure this fake dating AU would surpass me quickly. After all, it is gorgeously written and evokes deep thoughts and torrents of emotion. The characters feel canon, not just in their shallow fan interpretations, but as people. The bare-bones plot is incredibly creative, and the execution is even more flawless. 
          I was really, REALLY worried, and every beautiful word I read made my stomach drop all the way through the floor. I read it as if it had personally wronged me in some way. At the very least, I comforted, it had little readers, comments, and votes.
          Now, a few nights ago, while I was outlining a chapter for my next book, I got reminded of the book. I don't even remember why, but I quickly paused my playlist and scoured for it. I got suspicious when I didn't find it immediately with what I thought would be thousands upon thousands of reads.

          "A few beats pass before my voice comes back - albeit as a trembling whisper. 
          
          "Ah, fuck it." I hastily turn my body to Technoblade, so fast that satisfying jolts run down my spine. His tired eyes flash a baffled expression, but that didn't stop me from dragging my hand from his ear to the back of his head, meticulously tangling it in his bubblegum pink hair. I crash my lips into his. 
          
           No response. 
           His brown eyes stayed wide open.
          
          I yank myself away hastily, nearly smacking my head on the stained dumpster behind me. What the fuck did I do that for? I begin to tumble and stumble over an apology, my voice just a breathless whisper. Droplets of rain soak my eyelashes before they join their brethren on the ground like saltless tears. Although, I faintly feel like some salt might join them.
          
          No response.  
          His brown eyes just blinked to a metronome, no emotion poking through. 
          
           My hands shake as they fall from his jawline to the scattered puddles on the asphalt, hopefully from the rain. I love the rain, I always have. I always enjoy how the pitter-patter, the dry verandah crackle like an old radio coming to life, creates a shield around me. 
          
           However, right now, I feel no protection. 
          
           I just feel some sick, lead pit in my stomach. 
          
           Well, that was until Technoblade launches himself at me, knocking all the wind out of my lungs. "
